I have been a part of LSA since its inception in 1996 and
passed out in 2010, investing a wonderful 14 years of my life here.
I then went on to obtain a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
from VIT University, Vellore and then my MBA from IIM Bangalore.
Over the last few years spanning across my education and
corporate life I have tried to contribute to society
in my own small way. In Vellore, my friends and
I used to visit the Don Bosco Orphanage to teach kids
and provide basic amenities. I was also a part of a social
outreach program - One Space - where we used to invite
children from economically disadvantaged sections to our
university and hold workshops on science, math and good
health practices. During my first job in Bangalore, some
friends and I adopted another orphanage in Whitefiled
under the guidance of an NGO - Naya Sawera. We used to engage
with the children, who belonged to various age groups.
We used to provide sanitation supplies and educational material
in addition to teaching them basic concepts of trust, teamwork,
and sharing through means of fun activities.
All of these experiences led me to help start
- Quest - a society in IIM Bangalore aimed at sensitizing the community and
embracing diversity & inclusion by creating a
supportive environment for people belonging to minorities (sexual, cultural
and physically disabled). Through this society, we
organized various events led by students, corporates and NGOs
which were aimed at making people more empathetic and
accepting of one and all.
